Cascade Conducting Online Masterclass with Symphony Tacoma Music Director Sarah Ioannides will begin each day with two morning sessions (9-10:30, 10:45-12) with a 15-minute break at approximately 10:30. The morning focus will be on score study, baton technique, score mapping/memorization, repertoire development, and musicianship training. All morning sessions will include guest speakers that will bring knowledge of different aspects of the conducting world.

Lunch break is from 12-1.

The afternoon session will be from 1-4:30, and will be dedicated to discussions about the profession of conducting including: resume building, 1:1 career consultations, job applications and auditions, digital work, and working with the orchestra (preparing for rehearsals, time management).

Scholarships

The Cascade Conducting Fellowship

The Cascade Conducting Fellowship is a full scholarship that will be awarded to an applicant of outstanding ability. The Cascade Conducting fellow will be responsible for assisting Sarah Ioannides during the masterclass, including leading one round table session for masterclass auditors. The recipient of the 2020 Cascade Conducting Fellowship will be announced shortly after the May 1 application deadline.


The Orquesta Northwest Full Scholarship for a Latino Conductor

The Orquesta Northwest full scholarship for one exceptional conductor who identifies as Latino. This scholarship will be partially need based and partially merit based. The recipient of the BCO full scholarship for exceptional Latino conductor will be announced shortly after the May 1st application deadline.


The Orquesta Northwest Full Scholarship for a Conductor Native to the Americas

Orquesta Northwest will provide a full scholarship to any conductor with heritage indigenous to the Americas.
