The 2022 Cascade Conducting Online Seminars with Sarah Ioannides begin June 13th. Register today!
Cascade Conducting will be offering 12 seminar classes, one hour and fifteen minutes in length, during the three weeks leading up to the 2022 Masterclass that will be taught by Maestra Ioannides. These classes will investigate the repertoire for the 2022 Masterclass, and will be very helpful in preparing participants for the live masterclass. However, the classes are for anyone who would like to join, and are recommended for anyone looking to learn about conducting from Maestra Ioannides.
Topics will include:
Study techniques & time management, goal setting
Baton Techniques
Warmups, exercises, & physical preparation for conducting
Ear training & score reading skills - a review on recommended skills & best practices
Possible review of conducting tapes
Repertoire Study for 2022 masterclass

Getting started in the field Opera
Former Curtis Institute of Music Fellow & presenter for Curtis Mentor Network,
Robert Kahn will delve into Historically Informed Performance Practice, focusing on music from 1750-1900.
In addition, as this year’s Young Artist Assistant Conductor at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival
he will discuss the practical topic of getting a career started in Opera.

Choir Director, Symphony Tacoma Voices
Geoffrey Boers is Director of Choral Activities at the University of Washington in Seattle,
a program widely recognized as forward thinking, unique, and of great distinction.
Through his teaching he is exploring the evolution of conducting gesture and rehearsal pedagogy
and their connection with the emerging neuroscience of mirror neurons, empathy, perception, learning,
and personal transformation. His exploration has led to new thoughts about conducting and teaching
with regard to breath, movement, artistry, personal awareness, and cultural development.
He works regularly with Symphony Tacoma and Ms. Ioannides - explore the collaboration
and mindset for working with both orchestra and choir.
